Borneo No 4

Hi Family, Friends, Davenanters, Dancers and Bloggers,

This morning we were up at 6.00 am to get ready for another boat ride, to go in search of more wildlife. We left at 6.30 am and got back at 8.45 am - just in time for breakfast. 

This time we went a different direction and headed for an oxbow lake. If yesterday was the day of the Prosboscis Monkey, then today was the day of the birds and Water Monitors. Once again, the experience of travelling on the river, while everything was waking up, was quite magical.

Another successful day's work in the rainforest! When we returned, I ate my full cooked breakfast with toast and marmalade as if I hadn't eaten for a week - I was starving!

At 4.00 pm we went out on our final boat ride with our skipper called Fendi and this time we travelled past the oxbow lake to a new destination. We saw lots of Proboscis Monkeys, Macaque Monkeys, a Python Snake, a Mangrove Snake, Rhinoserous Hornbills, a Bee Eater Bird and a White Bellied Sea Eagle to name just a few. 

Again, we thought we had been really lucky to have seen such a variety of different species.

After our evening dinner at the lodge we were entertained by the locals who performed three of their national dances. We were then all asked to join in - so we did:
