Last night we ate in the hotel restaurant and, once again, it was very quiet and the service was a bit weird but the food was very good. I had a fish pâté to start, a seafood Tai curry for main course and a crepe suzette with mixed fruits for dessert. It was all delicious but the Tai curry was fantastic. Sandra had the rack of lamb and a fruit cheesecake and thoroughly enjoyed it. We got talking to Andre, the new restaurant manager, and he was telling us about the plans to improve the restaurant in the future. He was an interesting guy because he had worked previously at Sandy Lane and The Cliff Restaurant, which are two of the best restaurants on the island, and he relayed some of the stories about the celebrities that went to the restaurants. The conversion started with the late Michael Winner who was a frequent visitor to Sandy Lane, then he told us that he had almost bumped into David Beckham one night and that when Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas went there, there were paparazzi hiding in the shrubbery. He had also seen Cliff Richards, Olivia Newton John, Cilla Black, Simon Cowell and Tony Blair with his entourage. "Such fun" - as Miranda would say.
Well, it's our turn tonight, we're off to Sandy Lane. Will we see any celebs? We doubt it but you never know.
